Social Security rules and regulations are very complicated and as a result they make many mistakes. Our client, who is in a wheelchair had his benefits stopped due to work. He contacted Social Security to get benefits again in 2009. He should have filed an "Expedite Reinstatement" (EXR), but the Social Security representative incorrectly told him he would get less money from an EXR. He contacted us for information. We represented him before Social Security and reviewed his entire case history. We discovered his checks had been incorrectly stopped in 2005 and as a result we were able to get Social Security to restart his benefits all the way back to 2005. This resulted in an underpayment of $53,000 due our client. |
